The chronicled adventures of Joey in China.
A Canasian from Vancouver, BC, spending a year abroad in Weifang, Shandong, China teaching at a BC Offshore school. I teach English and Social Studies to grade 10-12 students.

Follow and discover China along with me as I try to blog, vlog, and plog (picture blog?) as much as I can about my experience.

We held our first ever school-wide spelling bee on Friday. It was a ton of fun. I have to hand it to our students; they prepared really hard for this. By the time we got down to our final two competitors, I think everyone in that room was on the edge of their seats. It was an intense finish and I couldn’t be prouder of our students! I hope we’ll be able to do this again next year.

This photo has nothing to do with The Avengers, but we took it at the movie theatre. Finally, we went to see an English movie that was actually in English. The Avengers was awesome and it’s affirmed for me that comics/graphic novels are pure genius.

I am doing a graphic novel unit on V for Vendetta right now with my English 11s and it has just been so enjoyable for me. The kids are becoming really invested in the book and I am finding new things in the intricately woven details everyday. Love this book. Read it if you haven’t already.

A student brought a puppy to school today. The teachers had to confiscate it and shower it with tons of love… Ah hem, I mean discipline. Yes, the student will be in big trouble… After we give ‘little monster’ some more belly rubs. Seriously, everyday should be bring a puppy to work day.
